Yet another demonstration of my cultural cutting-edgeness - the NYT has a front page story about the rise in consumer-accessible body scanning.

Attack of the Clones is totally cool. The word “cool” is the operative one - I can’t say it was a good movie but it was a really really cool movie. Definitely joyful and stimulating and entertaining to watch. And more. Some good moral ambiguity (not in the way that you might question your own morals, but in the simpler way of trying to understand who is good and bad in a movie series that is often pretty clear on that sort of thing), the most fantastic special effects ever, and lots of the neat, funny, cool little details that were at the core of the Star Wars pleasure for me all along.
I guess I shouldn’t be surprised
But I opened up a box of Kellogg’s Bart Simpsons Peanut Butter Chocolate Crunch cereal and it was the most disgusting thing I had ever tasted. I tried one mouthful and bleghghehghghgehghghghghghg that was it. I threw the rest out, quickly. I think I’ve got Homer-Os or Krusty Krunch lurking in the cereal cupboard. Hooboy.

Of course, the best part of the ad is the smiling woman and competent-looking man on the PC who are helping a blanket-swaddled elderly person slide into a gigantic plastic donut. Yikes!
Well, yesterday I got asked to be part of a TV pilot that’s being shot for Underground TV. I think it’s a pretty small part, but hey, I’ll be on tape, and it might get broadcast somewhere. I have no idea what it’s going to involve except a day of taping, but it sounds pretty interesting to involved in.
Okay, tomorrow is my first public (as opposed to private) improv performance. I’m curious to see how it goes. We’ve got a lot of material (two sets!) and a lot to get done at rehearsal tomorrow afternoon. It’ll be lots of fun, whatever happens.
Latest thing to break: the retractable antenna on my Miata. Looks like it’s an easy $20 fix if you’re one of those people. Sadly, I’m not.
I bought a Playstation yesterday (PSOne) - they lowered the price to $49.99 and that was it for me. Of course, it doesn’t come with any games, so it’s just sitting there. I think I may have ended up in a razor/razor blades type of situation. Ah well.
It’s flashback time. Today I made these cookies:
Ingredients
 1/2 cup margarine
 1/2 cup milk
 2 cup granulated sugar
 1/2 cup cocoa
 3 cup rolled oats
 1 cup coconut
 1 teaspoon vanilla
Put margarine, milk, sugar and cocoa in a saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium high heat. Reduce heat and continue to boil for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Add rolled oats and coconut. Mix well. Drop into waxed paper by tablespoonfuls quickly before cookies set.
We’ll see how they come out, but this was something I made and ate with great frequency during my very very early years.
Redwood City rocks!
Those were the words spoken by Neil Young last night as he played a surprise gig in my town, Redwood City, at the historic Fox Theater. Great show!
Well, the latest thing to break is my DVD player - only bought it in November, and now I’m returning it. I’ve gone through laptops, video cameras, now DVD players. Stuff keeps breaking. I’m not pleased. At the very least this (and crappy service from financial institutions) gives me some sort of theme for this blog.
My fave snip of this story:
“Spears has been challenging her good girl image by wearing more revealing clothing and performing more provocative stage shows.”
