In my first few years in the Bay Area, I’d always get a kick of out of certain parts of Sunnyvale, Santa Clara, San Jose – driving down El Camino in Santa Clara seemed like I was driving through the California of the 1970s that I saw on TV growing up. Frozen in time, somehow. So, this list is excellent – the Merc came up with a bunch of Bay Area food places that are anchored in a forgotten era.
